The Fifth Question: Do You Celebrate Good Times? (C’Mon!)
Honoring the things you love about yourself, our one-month anniversary, and tunes from Kool & The Gang.
Frankly, I’m a bit shocked you’re hearing from me today. I’m in Eastern New York this morning recovering from my first wedding of the year, a late-night weekend that kicked off with a 10:45PM private screening of John Wick 4. Perhaps I should have seen John Wicks 1-3 to know what I was getting into, but what’s done is done. No regrets right, just lessons learned?
Today was too important a milestone to miss: it’s our one-month anniversary! That’s right, four Sundays ago you heard from me for the first time, and I thank you so much for sticking with me. I’m sticking with you too. It’s so wonderful to see how this community continues to grow every week, and to hear your reactions to these words, like this kind and humbling message from Dakota over on Twitter.

One reader even told me that they’ve purchased journals for their two children and plan to share the prompts with them. Amazing!
So let’s give them something to write about with our fifth prompt.
How do you celebrate yourself?
We’ve spent a good number of weeks so far looking at “heavy” topics. Forgiveness, regrets, remorse, etc.
This week, especially coming off the high of celebrating love, I want to let us revel in the warmth of the good: YOU. Each of you is so incredible, and I want you to pause this week to think about how you honor and recognize that. If you need some prompts to dig in with, here they are:
What do you love about yourself?
What do your friends tell you are your best features/qualities? How do you respond when they say this? Are these the same things you would say about yourself?
When was the last time you celebrated yourself? What did it look like?
Do you have any weekly rituals to honor yourself?
Drop a Line
It has been a real treat hearing from you these past few weeks with your reflections. Some of you have even been sending them to my inbox, and I thank you for sharing a piece of yourself with me in this fashion. I don’t take that lightly.
If you ever want to share something that one of our questions has brought up for you, just drop me an email or a DM with your story.
And always feel free to hop in the comments below. I’d love to take some of your journaling prompts for future editions!
A Parting…Something
Come on, I had to give you this after our headline today.
And while “Celebration” might be there only #1 hit here in the States, “Jungle Boogie” will always be my favorite from Kool & The Gang. Here’s a live performance from Soul Train.
Have a great week fam. See ya Friday!
