It’s a quickie from me today, I’m on the road!
The Fifty-Fifth Question
We’ve no theme this month, but I do have (I think at least) some powerful questions coming in the weeks ahead.
What patterns are you trying to break?
Can you point to the origin of this habit/behavior?
What do you believe it is costing you to do this today? What do you stand to gain by changing this pattern?
What will you replace this pattern with?
Is there a root problem driving this behavior? Said differently, is breaking the pattern addressing a symptom or a root cause?
This Week’s Jam: “Take Me With U”
The final single from Purple Rain (but the second song featured here from the album), “Take Me With U.” In the film, the song comes during one of the most memorable scenes, when Prince and Apollonia head to “Lake Minnetonka.”
The song is a duet between Prince and Apollonia (but really Jill Jones) and a really fun, but grounding, bop after the high-energy, headed-to-the-heavens rush of “Let’s Go Crazy.” The string sections adds a bit of lightness and a orchestral section you don’t often hear from Prince.
Prince actually pulled the song from a forthcoming Apollonia 6 album and made it his own. Unfortunately he pulled a number of potential-rich tracks from the album, including “Manic Monday,” further limiting the band’s ceiling.
