The Fifty-Ninth Question: The Setting
Where we are can shape who we become. How has that affected you?
By the time you read this, I’ll just be wrapping up my first day in Australia. Bully for me!
The Fifty-Ninth Question
Speaking of travel…
How has place impacted your life?
Are these places you took yourself to, or places life and/or community (parents, spouse, etc.) took you to?
Did you recognize the power of this place in the moment, or only afterwards?
Did you go to this place with the intent to have it spark change, or did they happen as an unexpected result?
Is there a place that has impacted your life that you have never actually been to?
This Week’s Jam: “Habibi”
Prince has such a prolific catalogue of music that me saying this is a song you haven’t heard much about is not me saying much at all. But “Habibi” is definitely a buried track.
Coming from the early 2000s and loosely inspired by/a cover of Jimi Hendrix’s “Machine Gun”, “Habibi” is Prince’s love song to…his guitar. Not only does habibi actually mean “my love” in Arabic, it was also the name Prince gave to the purple version of his Love Symbol Guitar. It’s primarily instrumental, and a testament to Prince’s musical talents. Enjoy.
