The Sixty-Fourth Question: Getting What You Deserve
From punting a compliment to refusing to pursue our dreams, our own sense of worthiness often holds us back from realizing and appreciating our full potential.
Oops! We missed a week there. I’m sure you noticed too. My apologies. Sincerely. And you know what? Today’s gonna be a brief one too. Got a flight to catch.
By the way, today the blog turns 64 (questions). Do you still need us?
The Sixty-Fourth Question
This one might hit for you. Stick with it.
Where in life do you struggle to feel worthy?
Can you trace the origin of where this unworthiness comes from?
What does this unworthiness cost you?
How does that unworthiness manifest itself?
Any ideas you have for how you could rewrite the narrative you tell yourself?
What resources do you need to help you do the above?
This Week’s Jam: “Emancipation”
Out in Minneapolis this weekend they’re partying at Celebration 2024, celebrating the legacy of Prince. Jealous I’m not there? Absolutely. But I can still enjoy this song and pretend I am.
It’s hard to appreciate “Emancipation” without considering the album it comes from, the title, and all the associated baggage. But for 4:13, we can try. The song is connected by a powerful bass through-line, and the chorus is hard to forget (even when you try). The song does give you a bit of blue balls though, building to a finale that it never quite reaches. Break free of those expectations though, and it’s as good a song as any The Purple One has put out there. Enjoy.
