The Twenty-First Question: Birthday Beliefs
Probing what your birthday means to you, and looking back on birthday past.
Filled with love and light right as I write this, coming down off the high of a wonderful birthday weekend spent with friends. You can take a look at more of what I got up to here.
But on that subject…
What does your birthday mean to you?
This week’s prompt is borrowed from
(Amanda Stern), whose journaling prompt from May stuck in my mind as something to reflect on come my birthday. Below, some of the further prompts she offered to help you dig on the subject:How do you generally enjoy celebrating your birthday?
What was your most memorable birthday?
If you could plan the perfect birthday celebration, what would it look like?
What was the best birthday gift you ever received?
What was the best birthday gift you ever gave?

Following Up on #MoneyMiles
Thanks to all who read this and contributed to #MoneyMiles, my birthday fundraiser for A Call to Men. I’m proud to say we were able to raise over $1,500 for this important organization and the work they do.
That translated to 75 miles of movement, which I knocked out over the course of the weekend with friends across the country. People swam, biked, ran, walked and more to help us reach our goal. Thank you everyone!
Something for the Week
Some months back I shared a fantastic discussion I listened to between
and . Hope you listened, and if not, click that link to go check it out now.Suggest you sign up for their newsletters as well. Particularly, there’s a recent post from YP I want to share with you, “11 Attributes of Joyful Living.” The whole list is worth reading, but I’ve excerpted a few of my favorited below.
You stop glorifying busy living.
You have your goals, but you realize that you can work toward them without breaking yourself in the process. There is nothing valiant about burnout. Instead, you use your energy intentionally and put in good work toward the things you love but you do so in a balanced way.
You live with gentleness and kindness.
You try to do good things for others, but in a balanced way where you don’t exhaust yourself. Having a giving nature and treating people well directly supports your inner peace.
You make time to heal and grow.
Whether you have experienced trauma or not, everyone has gone through hard things and those moments leave marks on the mind that impact your thoughts and actions. Finding and using healing practices that work well for you can decondition the mind so that it becomes less defensive and more open to the natural flow and beauty of life.
Hope this resonates with you as well. Have a good week and see you Friday!
