The Twenty-Second Question: Enough is Enough
Remember your favorite word when you were a little kid? Time to find it again. (Or maybe it was just my favorite word)
The start of a new week brings a new practice for me. I’ve decided to work my way through The Artist’s Way which, I’m pretty sure, everyone in LA is legally obligated to do at least once. If you’ve done it before and have any tips, let me know. Definitely looking for ideas for Artist Dates as I get this started.
Since much of this process is about getting more in touch with your creative self and spiritual power, I thought looking at “shedding” would be a great place to take our journaling this week.
What do you need to start saying no to?
And if you’re saying no to answering this prompt, well, that might be the area to start your exploration! But, some other entry points if you need them:
Why are you saying yes to this right now?
Who are you protecting, or what are you avoiding, by saying yes?
What is this “yes” costing you?
With the reclaimed time, resources, or energy, what would you be able to do?
Practice saying no to this. How do you feel before, during, and after that experience?
Something For The Week
I’m going to hit you with a self-plug this week. I’ve had a few media hits come out lately that I hope you’ll consider checking out or sharing.
First up, my op-ed in Publisher’s Weekly just released on Friday. If you’re an author, a content creator, or just a reader, you might be interested in my take on the difference between a bestselling author and a successful one. My position is grounded in the decade-plus I spent working on book launches with ~100 authors. Hopefully you’ll be able to use these insights to craft a platform of your own.
Secondly, my interview with my good friend Brooke Sellas, who hosts a podcast for Social Media Examiner, is now live.
It’s quite niche, but if you’re in marketing, own an agency, or are a people manager, I hope you’ll consider giving it a watch. Talking all about my experience growing, leading, and nurturing a team.
Hope you don’t mind the personal plug. See you Friday!
